If you’ve never rented a dumpster before, you probably have a lot of questions and uncertainties. Many of these questions involve the actual rental process and how it all works. At Sweet Dumps, we put a lot of focus on our customer service, which means helping our customers understand everything about roll off dumpsters and the rental process. We’ve been in business for a long time now, and we have refined our rental process to make it super easy, fast, and affordable for you. For a first-time dumpster renter, here’s a brief rundown of what to expect.
Have a Project Plan Before You Call
Before calling to get your dumpster, make sure you know what exactly you need it for. The most important item on that list includes the materials that will be disposed of, and the volume of waste you are disposing of. There is a big difference between decluttering your garage and getting rid of a bunch of yard waste. Knowing how much you are getting rid of will be the biggest determining factor in the size of the dumpster you get.
One of the next most important factors is time. Not only may this influence which dumpster you choose, but it does have a direct impact on the cost of your dumpster rental. A dumpster that you rent for a few days is going to cost significantly less than a dumpster that you rent for multiple weeks. Knowing this vital information is crucial to know prior to calling so that our experts can ensure you get the perfect sized dumpster that fits your project and budget needs.
Dumpster Rental: Schedule and Delivery
Next, it’s time to think about delivery. Just as it is important to know what you are going to put into the dumpster, it’s equally as important to know where the dumpster is going to be during your rental period. For many, this means putting the dumpster in the driveway for the duration of the rental. Obviously, this might mean that your driveway isn’t usable for parking for the time being. Another option is to place the dumpster in the street by the curb. However, this can be largely dependent on the area that you live. Some cities and counties may require a permit before a dumpster can be temporarily placed in the street (or even on the property).
When everything else has been confirmed, all that is left is to schedule the delivery. Assuming there is nothing obstructing the path to the delivery location and there are no locked gates to get through, you don’t even have to be there when the dumpster is delivered! We’ll schedule a date that we’ll deliver your dumpster on and have it delivered as scheduled. Once it’s delivered, you can start filling it!
Project Completion and Dumpster Retrieval
Once you’ve completed your project and you’ve filled the dumpster, all that is left is to retrieve it. This is typically completed in one of two ways. The first way is simply picking up the dumpster on the date that was previously established for the rental period. When the rental period is up, we’ll come out and haul off the dumpster and then… you’re all done. Alternatively, many people finish faster than they anticipated and may call to let us know that we can come pick it up early. If you need to extend your rental period, let us know before the last day of your rental period so that we can work that out with you.
